Overview
This 10PA post is designed to support specialised oncologic plastic surgery and reconstruction at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing the expanding breast surgery service, head and neck surgery, and skin cancer service, and will share cover of the perineal reconstruction service.
Main duties of the job
Possession of the FRCS(Plast) and CCT, or an equivalent recognised accreditation in Plastic Surgery, is essential. The candidate should have undergone recognised specialist training and have experience in plastic surgery oncology, including microvascular reconstruction and perineal reconstruction. An interest in research, teaching, publication and audit activity across oncology‑related plastic surgery topics is desirable.
Job responsibilities
* Provide senior clinical input in oncologic plastic surgery and microsurgical reconstruction.
* Support and contribute to the breast surgery, head and neck, and skin cancer services, including attending Family History Clinics and complex tumour discussions.
* Share cover for perineal reconstruction and other specialist services as required.
* Participate in planned weekend and weekday clinical activity to support safe, timely decision‑making and continuity of care for patients over a 7‑day week.
* Maintain essential and mandatory training modules as required by GMC and Royal Colleges, using allocated time for CPD.
Qualifications
* GMC registration and licence to practice.
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). Applicants not on the Specialist Register must be eligible for inclusion within 6 months of the application date.
Research / Publications
* Published in peer‑reviewed medical literature.
Experience
* Involvement in clinical audit.
* Experience in perineal reconstruction.
* Experience of teaching junior colleagues.
Training
* NTN or equivalent.
* Head and Neck Fellowship in Microsurgical Training.
Personal Skills
* Well‑motivated and committed to high‑quality patient care.
