The purpose of the role is to work within a team of Prescription Clerks in the Pharmacy Hub located at Brooklea Health Centre. You will support the Pharmacy team and GPs in managing patient repeat prescriptions for the five practices within Connexus Primary Care Network (PCN). Connexus PCN includes five GP Practices: Birchwood Medical Practice, Nightingale Valley Practice, Priory Surgery, Stockwood Medical Practice, and Wells Road Surgery, serving the communities of Brislington, Knowle, and Stockwood in South-East Bristol.

Connexus PCN brings together five GP Practices serving 50,000 patients in the Brislington, St Annes, Knowle, Totterdown, and Stockwood areas of South Bristol. The PCN is based in South Bristol within the BNSSG locality and employs a small team responsible for delivering a range of services under contract with NHS England.
Job responsibilities
Key responsibilities and tasks
* Support the PCN Prescription Hub
* Full training will be provided; previous experience as a Prescriptions Clerk is not essential.
* Process repeat prescriptions daily, ensuring compliance with protocols.
* Perform regular searches on drugs requiring monitoring to minimize adverse effects.
* Ensure all current medications have relevant, current authorizations.
* Promote cost-effective prescribing by switching to generic drugs when appropriate and encouraging use of local formulary medications.
* Handle prescription queries from healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff.
* Manage medication changes from hospital letters, including updating records and adding monitoring diaries.
* Perform searches and act upon drug alerts.
* Add new patient medications, liaising with GPs for approval and with patients and pharmacies as needed.
* Coordinate responses to email and telephone inquiries.
* Support the PCN team in coordinating audits to improve patient outcomes.

Salary: £23,500 to £25,500 per year, depending on experience (Pro Rata).
