About the role


As our Lead Registered Building Inspector, you will supervise the day-to-day work of a team of building inspectors and take the lead on all technical matters relating to the Building Regulations and the Building Act. You will be the service's expert on compliance, dangerous structures, enforcement, and demolition.

You will also play a key role in shaping how we respond to the evolving national landscape of building control. Working as part of a diverse and inclusive team, you will help strengthen our relationships with the local construction sector and developers.

We are looking for:

* A registered and experienced building inspector to level Class 2F with in-depth knowledge of the Building Regulations and associated legislation.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly and confidently to a range of audiences.
* Confidence in supervising a team of building inspectors, ensuring high standards of performance, and continuous development.
* A sound understanding of quality assurance systems and knowledge of budgetary systems, finance, and business.

Part office / part home – hybrid - We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
