Purpose of the Job
This is a multifaceted role within the Retail & Customer Experience (CX) team of a multinational technology company. As a Retail Production Designer you will immerse yourself in the client’s global brand identity, and provide expertise in aligning design & production capability in their retail fixture and CX strategy.
The role bridges the gap between creative design and production, while ensuring the functional integration of our client’s proprietary technology into the physical store environment. This role is essential for ensuring our client’s retail technology is presented optimally, engaging customers, and maximizing return on investment through superior fixture design.
You will work with our Senior Retail Concept Designer to bring fixture concepts to life - taking a fixture from schematic design and working with production managers to successfully see it through production. You will be tasked to adapt existing retail fixtures, again working with production managers to deliver a more cost efficient solution. You'll also develop 3D rendering and fixture drawings for retailer sell-in, develop fixture planograms in line with global planogram guidelines, integrate product demo/security, and create graphics (attract / commit / pricing / promos) as needed.
The role operates on a blended basis between the local HH Global office, client site (in London) and home as necessary - the initial requirement is for a fixed term of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and advise on adaptation of fixtures to meet the needs of regional retailers and ensuring client brand consistency
* Ensure fixture designs support business and product experience goals (ie products/product combinations or demos)
* Support with designing fixtures and creating renderings for presentations
* Develop dimensional schematic drawings and material specifications
* Review production engineering drawings from the regional production team
* 2D graphic concepting - store experience design, seasonal campaign design, brand guidelines
* Work with GTM to develop planograms for regional fixtures inline with global planogram guidelines
* Provide clear & comprehensive briefs to 3rd party agencies
* Work with project managers and 3rd party agencies to manage workflow prioritization, and client expectations
Knowledge, Skills + Experience
* Degree level education in Retail Design, Interior design / Architecture or related field of study
* Substantial experience in technical retail fixture design and retail CX design
* Presentation skills and pitch deck design
* Ability to develop dimensionally accurate schematic drawings to feed into the regional production engineering team
* Ability to work with and adapt production artwork
* Solid understanding of materials and production processes
* Keen eye for detail
* Experience in creating fixture engineering drawings
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment, and with many cross functional teams
* Software experience required: Vectorworks (planograms & technical drawings) Cinema4D (visualization) Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop + InDesign
Essential Criteria
* Experience in technical retail fixture design
* Experience in retail planogram creation
* Experience in / confident in a client facing role / ability to present ideas and process feedback
* Excellent personal organization & time management
