Role Description
6‑month Fixed Term Contract position or Contracting (Inside IR35) – possibility of extension. Based in Warwick, UK.
We are looking for an experienced Procurement Engineer (Buyer) – Chassis responsible for strategically sourcing, cost‑managing, and industrializing chassis commodities to support new vehicle development and series production. The role ensures supplier competitiveness, cost leadership, quality, and delivery performance throughout the product lifecycle.
Areas of Responsibility
* Develop and execute sourcing strategies for chassis commodities (suspension systems, subframes, castings, forgings).
* Lead RFQ/RFP processes, supplier nomination, and contract negotiations aligned with programme milestones.
* Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers in line with OEM purchasing governance.
* Manage supplier relationships, performance reviews, and risk mitigation.
Cost & Value Engineering
* Achieve target cost and year‑on‑year savings for assigned commodities.
* Perform cost breakdown analysis, benchmarking, and open‑book costing.
* Drive VA/VE and design‑to‑cost initiatives with Engineering.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
* Support vehicle programmes from concept to SOP.
* Ensure supplier industrialisation, APQP readiness, and PPAP approval.
* Manage tooling sourcing, investment, and commercial agreements.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Programme teams.
* Support make/buy decisions, localisation, and capacity planning.
Commercial & Contract Management
* Negotiate pricing, tooling, payment terms, and warranty conditions.
* Manage supplier contracts, LTAs, and price adjustments.
* Ensure compliance with UK and global trade and ethical sourcing standards.
Experience / Knowledge
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Automotive / Production).
* Extensive experience in procurement within a Passenger Car OEM.
* Strong experience in chassis commodities.
* Proven negotiation, cost reduction, and NPI support experience.
* Understanding of casting, forging, machining, and suspension system manufacturing processes.
