Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer (General Civils and Residential) – Bristol
We are recruiting a Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. What Are We Looking For
We seek a talented individual that can deliver high‑quality service, think outside the box, and enjoys a collaborative approach to developing pragmatic and innovative design solutions to the various technical challenges land development can present. You should have experience leading projects and teams, while also being comfortable getting hands‑on with the technical design and production of drawings and documentation.
We are looking for a candidate that has a good understanding of Civil Engineering best practice and standards, and the technical design skills to produce high‑quality work on a range of projects. You will use your initiative and professional judgment to support our clients’ projects and goals.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
* BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related degree plus 6+ years of relevant post‑graduate experience, and ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant professional body (e.g. ICE).
* Demonstrable ability to lead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels and plot engineering.
* Experience in an independent holistic lead role on major projects, managing and prioritising workloads for junior team members.
* Proficiency in design using best practice guidance such as Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, and local authority design standards.
* Ability to prepare private and adopt‑able drawings and calculations, and obtain ordinary watercourse consent with watercourses and technical approval from key authorities concerning S104 and S38 agreements.
* Numerate and software literate with experience in AutoCAD, 3D civil modelling (Civils3D or similar), and drainage modelling software such as Causeway Flow.
* Ability to manage non‑technical project aspects, including contract management, finance, programme and resourcing.
* Consultancy/private sector background with a pragmatic approach to residential development from concept to construction.
* Effective organisational and communication skills within a collaborative environment.
* A full driving licence and access to a car.
