Shipping Manager / Coordinator (6 Month Contract) Monday to Friday, 8:00am 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week) Pay Rate: Up to £23.00 per hour depending on experience About the Role We are supporting our client, a well-established chemical distribution company, with the recruitment of a temporary team member to join their Shipping Department based at their Elland warehouse. This position is available at Shipping Manager level, though our client is also open to considering candidates with a solid background in shipping or logistics administration, provided they have proven experience and confidence working with structured shipping processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting import/export activities, ensuring accurate shipping documentation, coordinating with freight providers and colleagues, and maintaining a professional and efficient shipping operation. Key Responsibilities Ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery of both imported and exported goods Maintain all required shipping documentation, including letters of credit and banking documents Liaise with freight providers to obtain quotations and confirm accurate package weights and dimensions Prepare pro-forma invoices as required (e.g. for inspection purposes) Communicate with colleagues regarding any shipping-related details affecting operations Negotiate with freight suppliers to ensure competitive rates and service Maintain accurate computer records relating to assigned products or shipments Provide support across the team and adapt as needed to meet departmental targets Skills & Experience Essential: Proven administrative skills with strong attention to detail Experience in export and import logistics or related shipping processes Confidence working with structured procedures and compliance requirements Strong communication and organisational abilities Able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines Proficient in the use of standard office and logistics-related computer systems Desirable: Knowledge of air/sea DG (dangerous goods) regulations Familiarity with shipping procedures in the chemical industry Please apply online and phone Adam Dyson for further details.
