We are seeking a patient, empathetic, and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Chelmsford, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs, providing personalised assistance, and helping them achieve academic, social, and emotional progress. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil who has specific learning needs, delivering personalised support in lessons and during activities. You will assist in implementing individual learning plans, monitor progress, and help the pupil develop independence, confidence, and positive behaviour. You will also collaborate with teachers, the SENCo, and parents to ensure consistent and effective support. Key Responsibilities Provide personalised one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs Assist in implementing individual learning plans and EHCP targets Support the pupil academically, socially, and emotionally Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours Help the pupil access lessons and participate fully in classroom activities Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress accurately Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCo, and other support staff Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals as required Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment Support the pupil during transitions, break times, and structured activities Attend staff meetings, training, and CPD sessions Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience supporting pupils with additional needs in a school setting Be patient, empathetic, and resilient Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, adaptable, and reliable Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing The school is located in Chelmsford, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
