Role summary

Join us in shaping an innovative new model of care as a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Grade 1) dedicated to supporting patients living with chronic and complex pain at the end of life. This is a rare opportunity to lead a role designed to make a profound difference—enhancing comfort, dignity and quality of life for people receiving palliative care or approaching the end of life. You will drive clinical excellence in pain management by improving access to person‑centred, evidence‑based interventions. You will strengthen partnerships with specialist palliative care teams, chronic disease clinics, acute and chronic pain services, and the wider multidisciplinary workforce. Your leadership will help establish clear referral pathways, foster collaborative practice, and embed best‑practice models of care for people with complex pain needs and life‑limiting illnesses.

Are You the Right Fit?

In this role, you will: use your advanced clinical expertise to guide evidence‑based practice and support high‑quality care delivery; foster a culture of clinical excellence, research, innovation and professional leadership; collaborate closely with healthcare providers and consumer groups to develop, implement and evaluate clinical practice standards; provide specialist consultancy and support effective management of care within this emerging specialty area.

Selection Criteria

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

* Do you have relevant experience and demonstrated skill in complex pain assessment and management at end of life, including both pharmacological and non‑pharmacological approaches?
* Describe your passion about delivering holistic, patient‑centred care that upholds dignity and enhances quality of life for people approaching the end of life?
* Do you have strong clinical leadership capability, with a proven ability to influence practice change and improve patient outcomes?
