MCS Group are working in partnership with the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (HSCNI) to recruit an experienced Support Accountant (Band 7) to join their Financial Planning function. This is a senior finance opportunity within a large, complex public sector organisation, offering the chance to play a key role in strategic financial planning, business case development, service modernisation, and efficiency programmes that directly support frontline health and social care delivery across Northern Ireland. The Role The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Accountant and senior leadership team to support the financial sustainability and strategic development of services. Key responsibilities include: Leading the financial analysis and development of capital and revenue business cases Supporting capital development projects and financial planning Providing expert financial input to efficiency, recovery and modernisation programmes Supporting Trust-wide benchmarking, productivity and value-for-money initiatives Representing Finance in Service & Budget Agreement (SBA) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiations Providing high-level financial analysis and performance reporting to senior stakeholders Advising directors, clinicians and senior managers on financial planning and service development Supporting Trust directorates, strategic planning and commissioning functions The Person Essential Criteria: Fully qualified accountant (CCAB recognised body or CIMA) Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience at supervisory/management level Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial systems capability Strong leadership, people management and team development skills Full UK driving licence and access to transport (reasonable adjustments apply) The role Temporary assignment, initially for 8 months Pay rate £24.45 per hour Senior finance role within a large complex public sector organisation Hybrid working after initial settling in period This role is ideal for a qualified accountant seeking a strategic, high-impact role within the public sector, where your financial expertise will directly support service sustainability and patient care outcomes.
