Senior Agronomist – Large-Scale Arable Farming
Senior Agronomist – Lincoln, £100,000+ package
The Job
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Agronomist to join a large scale, high tech, data-driven arable farming operation. This role combines deep crop science knowledge with commercial acumen, innovation, and a passion for sustainable farming.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead agronomic decisions across large scale arable crops including wheat, barley, oilseed rape, potatoes, peas and energy crops
* Implement and manage precision agriculture technologies, including precision spraying, variable rate inputs, crop mapping, yield data analysis and drone/sensor imagery
* Promote sustainable farming practices focused on soil health, nutrient efficiency, cover cropping and environmental schemes
* Design and run on-farm trials, evaluate new crop varieties and systems, and collaborate with research and engineering teams to drive innovation
* Balance yield, crop quality, input costs, and environmental impact while maximising profit per hectare
* Lead and communicate effectively with farm managers, machinery teams, and research staff, ensuring alignment and successful implementation of agronomic strategies
The Candidate
* Extensive knowledge of arable crop agronomy at a commercial scale
* Strong experience in precision agriculture and data driven farming
* Understanding of regenerative agriculture, soil health and sustainable farming practices
* Commercially aware with the ability to link agronomy decisions to farm profitability
* Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
* Innovative mindset with experience in research, trials, and implementing new technologies
