Working as part of a team, the Senior Autism and Neurodiversity Consultant’s aim is to lead the engagement and support of a cohort of participants per year to get ready for employment, and to support an agreed percentage of participants per year to secure employment. Your role will be to lead the engagement of your cohort participants in the relevant council areas and to co-design pathways to employment with each participant, driven by the participants needs. In order to facilitate your agreed percentage of participants per year securing employment, your role will involve keeping abreast of employment opportunities and proactively reaching out to employers to identify routes to employment and establish working partnerships. The Senior Autism and Neurodiversity Consultant will report to management in relation to programme targets and will lead activity to overcome obstacles and work in a way to achieve targets, utilising initiative and creativity to overcome barriers and resolve client problems. The Senior Autism and Neurodiversity Consultant will lead curriculum delivery and timetabling for participants and will track progress and programme modification in order to maximise participant progress both in terms of wellbeing and career. You will quickly identify and report on programme areas requiring attention and adopt a problem solving approach. The Senior Autism and Neurodiversity Consultant will support participants, who are neurodivergent young people or adults, to feel more confident, experience reduced attitudinal and communication barriers, and to progress in relation to having a career. The Senior Autism and Neurodiversity Consultant will help participants feel more ready to meet employers, education, and training providers, and to make a positive start to a new career. The Senior Autism and Neurodiversity Consultant will also connect with an exciting employer mentor network, many of whom are neurodivergent, who will inform the programme curriculum, ensuring participant’s learning pathways are relevant to their chosen career at this time, and who will provide learning opportunities for participants. KEY TASKS Individual meetings with participants, to support participants to develop strategies to achieve goals. Establishing new referral networks and supporting partners to refer participants to the programme. Leading the recruitment of an agreed number of active participants per year Supporting an agreed percentage of participants per year to secure employment Designing each participant’s programme pathway which is tailored to their presentation and goals. Co-designing pathways to employment with each participant Leading on curriculum delivery and programme modification as you listen and respond to participant needs and progress. Proactively contacting potential employers. Making an agreed number of new employer connections each week. Reporting on progress of the agreed number of participants per year within your programme cohort. Leading the securing of baselines and survey responses, and strategies to engage participants who experience barriers to engaging. Reporting on programme targets and leading the activity to overcome obstacles to achieving targets. Support of group sessions where participants develop employability skills to secure, sustain and progress in careers and learn strategies for working as a neurodivergent person. Facilitating interest groups and workshops, for example, taking part in board games and other social activities. Undertaking weekly activities, along with the project teams, to support participants to achieve project aims, such as securing employment and further training or education. Facilitating mentor sessions, and employer briefings. Support of group workshops, and sessions where participants learn about and explore areas which are important to them e.g., disclosure in work. Maintaining records in relation to all project activity, in line with Specialisterne NI quality standards and GDPR regulations. Ongoing learning related to autism and autistic people and of tools and techniques which may support participants to achieve project objectives.
