You will be pathing the way to NetZero using new technologies to develop and deliver engineering solutions for transmission networks (132kV and above) for the ever-evolving energy landscape. As a vital part of SPEN, you will be exposed to a wide range of new and emerging responsibilities, and at a pivotal time as ScottishPower leads the fight against climate change and strives to deliver our ambitious growth and investment plans. You can expect to be working with and learning from a broad range of stakeholders from across SPEN, the Iberdrola Group and relevant external bodies. What you’ll be doing The Operational Risk Lead Engineer within SP Transmission Operations will be responsible for developing plans to mitigate against Operational Risks and Network Incidents to ensure strong business preparation for these scenarios. The postholder will work closely with the Operational teams in developing contingency plans, communicating these plans with key stakeholders, and testing these plans to ensure their effectiveness and suitability in an emergency. They will be responsible for the Operations Risk Register for the department and work closely to ensure the Technical Risk Register in the business is reflective of the issues being managed by the Operational teams. The Operational Risk Lead Engineer will also work closely with the Transmission Strategic Stores Team to assess strategic stock levels, create replenishment strategies, and ensure any contingency plans reflect current stock holdings. This position has 2 direct reports. The successful person will be responsible for: Leading the safety & environmental culture, ensuring all legislation and company rules, policies and procedures are adhered to. Developing and managing the Operational Risk Framework for Transmission Operations including Business continuity, Black Start plans, and Transmission Incident Response Plans/ Developing plans to test the emergency plans and develop emergency exercise drills to ensure the team are familiar and confident with their roles in various scenarios. Make balanced decisions, considering all possible information available, able to consult with others when applicable and anticipate/recognise possible outcomes Managing the risk control framework and formulation of risk management strategy. Creating a suite of Network Contingency Plans ensuring all plans developed are available for pre and post fault implementation. Ensure these contingency plans are reviewed regularly and take in to account current transmission stock levels, equipment lead times, and contractor arrangements. Work with Transmission Strategic Stores Team to assess strategic stock levels and plan for replenishment. Acting as focal point for the key operational Interfaces within the business across key stakeholders within Network Operations. Owning and leading in overall objectives to improve the safety and customer service culture across the organisation. What you’ll bring Working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and practices. Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation. Developed customer service, negotiation, communication and man management skills. Project, contract & SLA management and general commercial & regulatory awareness. Strong operational experience spanning Transmission and Distribution Operations including involvement in network incident management and potential contingency arrangements. Experience in Transmission Network Design. Ability to devise engineering solutions and designs to complex situations.
