Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of our client for a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist (Band 5/6) to join a busy and supportive laboratory team.

As part of the laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a range of analytical tests and investigations on patient samples, ensuring accurate and timely results that directly support clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
Key Duties
Perform analytical testing, validation and processing of patient samples.
Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
Process urgent, routine and specialist investigations within agreed turnaround times.
Review and authorise results in line with SOPs, competency requirements and quality standards.
Participate in Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assessment (EQA) programmes.
Maintain compliance with ISO 15189, UKAS and laboratory quality standards.
Ensure accurate record-keeping and full sample traceability.
Adhere to Health and Safety, COSHH and infection control procedures.
Support the training and development of junior staff.
Contribute to audits, service improvement initiatives and quality projects.
Collaborate effectively with clinicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams to support patient care.
Requirements
Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent recognised qualification.
HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
IBMS-accredited degree.
Experience working within a clinical pathology or diagnostic laboratory.
Knowledge of laboratory testing processes and quality standards.
Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Understanding of laboratory quality management systems and accreditation requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Good IT and data management capabilities.
Proactive and flexible approach to work.
