Locum Consultant in Burns & Plastic Surgery - Consultant Hand Surgeon

An exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon with subspecialty interests in Hand and Trauma to join the orthoplastic hand surgery service in the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
You will support the development of a general elective adult hand surgery practice and deliver hand and general plastic surgery emergency care, including at a national exemplar site for WALANT hand trauma surgery.
This full‑time position consists of 10 programmed activities spread throughout the week.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons examination in Plastic Surgery – FRCS(Plast) – or recognised international equivalent.
* ATLS certification.
* Fellowship training (or ongoing fellowship training) in hand surgery.
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery or progression towards Specialist Registration or CESR.
Experience
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Plastic Surgery.
* Experience of all aspects of elective and emergency hand surgery.
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems, both emergency and elective, within Plastic Surgery.
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
* Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Experience in wrist trauma including distal radius and scaphoid fixation and malunion correction.
Management / Administration
* Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of service.
* Experience of audit and management.
* Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, waiting lists and operating lists.
* Ability to manage and lead a surgical team.
* Management or leadership training course.
Teaching and Research
* Ability to teach clinical and operative skills.
* Experience delivering teaching to doctors and allied health professionals.
* Experience teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Publications in the field of Hand Surgery.
* Postgraduate teaching qualification.
* Ability to supervise postgraduate research.
