CAMHS Trainee Children's Wellbeing Practitioner

Children & Young People's Wellbeing Practitioner Trainees, CAMHS (training posts) - Fixed Term 1 year

We are excited to offer 4 training posts; across our three Community CAMHS services.

These are full time training posts which will involve undertaking a postgraduate diploma level training hosted by the University of Reading whilst being based within one of our CAMHS clinical teams.

Candidates will need to be ready to start academic training in February 2026 at the University of Reading (UoR). Interviews will be held jointly with the UoR and successful candidates will be required to complete the application form for a place on the Graduate/Postgraduate Diploma in Brief Evidence-Based Psychological Interventions for CYP with Common Mental Health Problems course.


Main duties of the job

As a Trainee Children & Young People's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) you will be trained to assess and deliver low-intensity interventions for common mental health problems in children and young people such as low mood, anxiety and behavioural difficulties.

You will develop your skills with a mixture of role-play and skills practice teaching, as well as clinical work in service.


Job responsibilities

The post-holder will work as a trainee as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties including anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties.

The post-holder will work with children, young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when required.


Person Specification

* Undergraduate degree, upper second class or above, in Psychology OR related subject.
* Demonstrable experience of working with children, young people and their families.
* Ability to engage and develop therapeutic relationships with CYP and their families.
* Ability to manage own caseload and time.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay or skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.
