About the role

Balfour Beatty has a 115-year history of creating iconic buildings and infrastructure worldwide, setting industry standards with each project.

Currently, in partnership with several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty has been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to build a pioneering fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, a key component in transforming Teesside into the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.

We are seeking a dynamic Plant Coordinator to support the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage fleet administration, including asset utilization and telematics optimization to reduce costs.
* Ensure all operations meet Balfour Beatty’s health and safety standards.
* Maintain strong relationships with the project team and engage with the delivery activities on site.
* Coordinate with OEMs and innovation teams on product development.
* Keep site hire records fully updated and manage requisition and tender allowances daily.
* Select appropriate plant and fleet for tasks in collaboration with the project team.
* Coordinate plant and fleet movements with logistics.
* Support maintenance and servicing procedures for ATS business.
* Maintain asset records in line with group and legislative requirements.
* Manage asset defects, liaising with suppliers and site teams for prompt resolution.
* Ensure plant operator competencies are maintained.
* Identify operational deficiencies and escalate to management.
* Attend meetings, contribute to cost control and resource reviews, and analyze weekly plant reports.
* Use telematics to monitor underutilized equipment.
* Conduct safety walks, audit equipment, and promote safety standards.
* Handle breakdown requests and ensure timely resolution.
* Place purchase orders accurately and on time.
* Innovate procedures to resolve project issues.
* Support procurement in sourcing supply frameworks.
* Participate in supplier performance reviews and management meetings.
* Advise on plant-related issues in senior management meetings.
* Lead by example in safety and promote a Zero Harm culture.
* Communicate regularly with all project stakeholders to share best practices and successes.


Candidate Profile

Experience

* Understanding of plant and equipment management.
* Structured approach to plant management.
* Experience managing stakeholders and in the plant/equipment industry.
* Customer-focused with strong communication skills.
* Flexible and adaptable working style.

Behaviors

* Confident communicator at all levels, including senior leadership and OEMs.
* Proactive in identifying and communicating improvement areas.
* Effective time management and multi-project handling.
* Self-motivated with a focus on safety and business improvement.
* Innovative thinker with sound commercial judgment.
* Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with MS Project is a plus.
* Previous site-based or senior plant management experience preferred.
