Overview
PE Global is currently recruiting for a Metallurgical/Materials Engineer for a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment client based in Peterborough. This is an initial 12 months contract position working on site 5 days a week. Paying £19.29ph PAYE or £26.18ph Umbrella.
Responsibilities
* Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
* Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
* Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
* Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.
Qualifications
* Materials Science/Metallurgy degree and/or substantive practical working experience within a materials laboratory environment is required.
* 3-5 years work experience.
* Metallurgical / materials evaluation of new products, processes and/or systems.
* Engaging communicator; able to convey technical assessments and results to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
* Providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance.
* Ability to identify metallurgical / materials manufacturing defects and make process improvement recommendations.
