This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced cancer nurse to be appointed as the nursing lead for our Trust Skin Cancer Specialist Nursing service.
The postholder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordination of specialist nursing care for patients with skin cancer through diagnosis, treatment and in follow up care. The role involves line management, clinical leadership and nurse led clinic work for patients receiving a cancer diagnosis. It also includes offering patients Holistic Needs Assessments using the Macmillan My Care Plan system.

Main duties of the job
To be the team leader for the specialist skin cancer nursing service based within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The post provides service development, line management and leadership as well as direct clinical input as the Skin Cancer CNS. It offers important input to the skin cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) and as Skin Cancer CNS the role offers specialist nursing care to patients, and support and information to their carers. All care is holistic in nature and includes physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and intellectual assessment and interventions.
The post holder will co-ordinate the care of patients with melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and other skin cancers supporting them and their families throughout diagnosis, treatment and in follow up care. They will act as key worker for these patients throughout the care pathway.

Person specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* Post registration oncology qualification
* Specialist training in dermatology +/- plastic surgery
* Cancer and/or Palliative Care Degree
* ENB 998 or equivalent teaching qualification
* Working towards Masters or equivalent level study
* Advanced Physical assessment skills including skin lesion identification and dermoscopy
EXPERIENCE
* RGN –with relevant post registration experience
* Oncology/dermatology/ plastic surgery – strong experience at a senior level and/or experiences at a senior level in a related and relevant area of practice.
* Experience in managing a team
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
* Advanced communication training in a recognised cancer communication model
* Knowledge and understanding of: National Cancer guidance
* Knowledge and understanding of: NMC guidelines for Nursing
* Guidelines from NICE and British Association of Dermatology (BAD) for skin cancer
* TVCA Skin Cancer and CAG Guidelines
* IT literate
* Trust policies relating to: HR Policies, Recruitment and Retention, Disciplinary Procedures and completion of management course
* Psychological skills level 2 training
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
* Trust wide working as/when required. (car driver essential)
