Location: Morpeth, Northumberland
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000
Type: Full-time, Permanent | Day Shift (37.5 hours)
A well-established and innovative manufacturing business, specialising in high-quality, safety-critical products, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join its growing UK operation. This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative engineering team, offering the opportunity to play a key part in maintenance, manufacturing engineering, and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair plant machinery including CNC sewing machines, ultrasonic welders, and spring winders (full training provided)
* Diagnose faults and implement effective, long-term corrective actions to minimise downtime
* Lead the introduction and development of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system
* Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production
* Design and produce jigs and fixtures aligned with quality, cost, delivery, safety and customer requirements
* Source and manage spare parts, materials, and subcontractors in line with operational and cost targets
* Support health & safety compliance across all plant and machinery
* Develop and improve documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
* Assist with new product introduction, including supporting new machinery implementation
* Provide technical support during customer visits and occasional travel (UK and international)
* Train production operators in basic daily maintenance activities
* Support wider production operations when required
Candidate Requirements
* HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Time-served mechanical engineer
* Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment (safety-critical products advantageous)
* Strong experience maintaining pneumatic machinery
* Competent using Microsoft Office
* Confident working independently with strong problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
* Passion for engineering, quality, safety, and continuous improvement
