Expedition Engineering is an award-winning consultancy providing masterplanning and infrastructure design for local authorities, private developers and international clients. What we are looking for
We are looking for a professionally qualified Senior / Principal Civil Engineer with Chartered Engineer (CEng) status to join our team. You would be part of a dynamic team and work on projects ranging from city-wide masterplans to parks and public realm, including educational, arts and leisure, commercial and residential developments.
You will typically have 5-8 years post-graduation design experience with strong analytical, engineering design and communication skills. The following core experience is expected:
* Technical design of key infrastructure systems including water, flood mitigation, drainage, highways and utilities
* Digital design and systems optimisation tools (parametric earth movement modelling; information systems; 3D modelling)
* Site analysis including hydrology, utilities, ground conditions and environmental conditions
* Defining briefs, developing strategies and undertaking feasibility studies in response to client needs
Our ideal candidate will have a sound technical base with knowledge of relevant infrastructure standards and the ability to adapt to other international standards and practices. He/she should also have:
* Strong analytical and research skills
* Experience negotiating with technical stakeholders (e.g., Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, water undertakers)
* Experience producing accurate, high-quality drawings
* Strong IT skills for maps, plans and drawings; experience with design software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, InfoDrainage (or similar), GIS
* Awareness of BIM and its application on projects
* A good understanding of sustainable development practice
* Ability to work both individually and in multidisciplinary teams; responsibility for quality of work
* Ability to liaise directly with clients, architects and other project team members
* Confident communication and adaptable approach to different situations
Desirable additional skills that would enable broader project contribution:
* 3D parametric modelling experience (Rhino/Grasshopper)
* Experience with energy and environmental analysis tools (IES VE, JPA SAP, Ladybug/Honeybee, DIVA, EnergyPlus, etc.)
* Environmental design of buildings
Professional qualifications
* BSc/BEng (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status and membership of ICE, CIWEM (or similar)
