We are currently partnering with a local council based in Hampshire, who are recruiting for a Clerk of Works to join their growing team on a 6-month temporary basis.
This is a full-time position working with a rate of pay being negotiable (subject to experience) and they want someone to start this position immediately.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
1. Supervise building contractors appointed by the Council for the Decarbonisation Retrofit Programme, ensuring high standards of workmanship, adherence to best practices, and full compliance with safety requirements
2. Maintain close liaison with contractors and contract administrators to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of works
3. Attend site meetings regularly to monitor progress, address issues, and contribute to effective project coordination
4. Maintain detailed site records, including work progress, workforce levels, health and safety matters, and overall site conditions
5. Stay up to date with developments in the construction industry, particularly in relation to new materials, technologies, and working methods relevant to PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 standards
6. Remain informed on all legislative, legal, and technical requirements related to the effective delivery of the retrofit programme
7. Encourage and engage in cross-team collaboration, including inter-divisional and inter-departmental communication, as well as liaising with external stakeholders where necessary
8. Ensure all works and systems comply with statutory regulations, industry codes of practice, and the Council's Constitution
9. Work closely with the Compliance Officer to ensure all health and safety risks are properly assessed, coordinated, and effectively managed on site
Experience required:
10. Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
11. Working as part of a team
12. Computer literate, (experience of using Orchard computer system)
13. Supervision of contractors
14. Liaison with tenants, contractors, leaseholders and private owners regarding works
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
15. Supervision of Contractors
16. Able to meet the travel requirements of the post (70% site based and 30% office based)
17. Assisting the Project Manager with validating Contractors' valuations
18. Ensuring Health and Safety standards and procedures are followed
19. Able to work with minimum supervision
20. Surveying of buildings and specifying remedial works
21. Good all round communication skills at all levels
