Main duties of the job
The anticoagulant service covers Chorley and Preston hospitals and the surrounding areas. The role is varied and includes running clinics at both hospital sites and offsite community clinics. There is also an office based aspect to this role where patients are contacted via telephone/postal service in order for them to receive dosage advice.
We are looking for a well organised and enthusiastic individual with good clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail to join our busy anticoagulant service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties to include but not be limited to:
1. You will work in a small team and perform a wide range of roles.
2. You will have excellent interpersonal and administrative skills including IT proficiency.
3. You will be able to work well in a team, work autonomously, be able to use your initiative and be willing to acquire new skills and knowledge. Attention to detail and accuracy in your work will be a key characteristic.
4. You will be able to work in a busy environment which is at times stressful and have a strongly held commitment to high standards of service delivery.
5. You will need to possess a positive approach within a constantly changing organisation.

Person specification
Qualifications and Education
Essential criteria
8. Registered General Nurse/Registered Nurse Adult or equivalent
9. Diploma or Degree in Nursing, Health or related subject
10. Mentorship Qualification recognised by the NMC
11. Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
Desirable criteria
12. Non-Medical Prescribing Course (NU4023/NU3023) and NCAT anticoagulation therapy course or willing to work towards the same
13. Competent in Venepuncture
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
14. Experience in multi-disciplinary team working
15. Ability for flexible working
16. Understanding of Clinical Governance and Information Governance.
17. Able to lead in clinical setting and clinics.
18. Evidence of clinical competence in speciality or related area
Desirable criteria
19. Previous experience in associated speciality
20. Previous experience of anticoagulation
21. Extensive post registration experience including at band 6
22. Knowledge of anticoagulation drugs and those that interact with them, their side effects and monitoring.
