Job Description

As our Facilities Maintenance Officer, you’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for the proactive upkeep of Shire buildings and infrastructure. You’ll carry out maintenance tasks, conduct inspections, assist in coordinating contractors, and support capital works projects. You’ll also help manage records, contribute to maintenance scheduling, and play a key role in ensuring a safe and functional environment for staff and the wider community. This role offers variety, the chance to work both independently and as part of a team, and an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to local services. Participating in an after-hours on-call roster, your responsiveness and steady approach will help ensure our facilities remain safe and functional at all times.

* Base annual salary of $71,294 per annum
* Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of 92c per hour on all worked hours and paid leave (up to $1,719 per annum)

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

* A can-do attitude and a commitment to the Shire’s HEART Values (Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork)
* Experience in facilities maintenance and repair
* Confidence with tools and equipment, plus sound problem-solving skills
* Good communication and computer literacy
* Strong time management and the ability to work both independently and in a team
* A Construction Safety Awareness (White) Card and C-Class Driver’s Licence

Knowledge of building structures and prior experience with tenders, alongside First Aid and Work Safely at Heights certifications, will be highly regarded.
