Birchy Hill Care Home is set in the picturesque village of Sway and provides residential or nursing care for up to 65 older people in five separate units.
Role:
To keep our friendly home a happy and bright place to be, we are seeking a Activities Assistant to join our team for 32 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Working alongside our lead leisure and lifestyle coordinator and assistant, this is a fun and varied position. We need a warm-hearted, enthusiastic and committed individual to help us deliver the type of caring and stimulating environment you'd want your own relatives to have.
Activities are a huge part of life for our residents so we want to ensure the events we plan are person-centered, interesting and fun. Working with the lead leisure and lifestyle coordinator, your role will include devising and implementing meaningful occupational therapies, helping our residents retain a sense of purpose and self-worth, bringing joy to their lives in an environment of safety, trust and respect. You will need to be creative and confident, with positive energy and a natural ability to get along with people, plus great organisational and IT skills.
Activities may include crafting, board games, puzzles, gardening, reminiscence therapy. You will need to liaise with our residents to take account of their ideas and requests, and contact providers for music sessions, pet therapy, etc.
Excellent communication skills are required and the ability to work well as part of a dedicated team. Always giving support to our residents and maintaining their dignity and privacy, the whole team strive to provide a happy, stimulating and stable environment.
All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of adults and will involve appropriate checks and clearances. Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced DBS disclosure at their own cost.
