Learning Support Assistant – New KS3 Specialist Provision (Full Time)

Location: Near Andover, Hampshire
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Permanent | Full Time | 8:30am – 5:00pm
Salary: Competitive – Based on experience and qualifications

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a newly established Key Stage 3 class within a highly regarded specialist provision located near Andover, Hampshire. The location is rural so it is essential to have access to your own vehicle.

Set in a peaceful, rural location surrounded by Hampshire countryside, the school provides a calm and spacious learning environment designed to support emotional regulation and pupil wellbeing. The site is well-equipped and purpose-built to meet the needs of children and young people with a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional diagnoses such as autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD and associated learning difficulties.

About the Provision:

This new KS3 class has been developed for learners who are in Key Stage 3 by age, but working at an upper primary level academically. The provision is structured, nurturing, and focused on supporting each pupil's holistic development through a tailored curriculum and high staff-to-pupil ratio.

You will be working in a small, highly supported class environment (typically no more than 6–8 pupils) alongside a class teacher and other support staff. The provision benefits from a strong multidisciplinary team, including in-house therapists and pastoral staff, who work closely with education staff to create a joined-up, therapeutic learning environment.

The Role:

* Support the teaching and learning of pupils within a small KS3 class, helping to deliver a curriculum adapted to meet individual needs

* Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with varying levels of need, both academic and emotional

* Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, communication and social skills throughout the school day

* Help implement EHCP targets and behaviour support plans as directed by the class teacher and wider team

* Assist in preparing learning resources, setting up activities, and supporting classroom routines

* Contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes consistency, structure and trust

* Work collaboratively with the wider team, including therapists and family support professionals

Candidate Profile:

* Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEN/SEMH settings (school, residential, care or support environments)

* A calm, consistent and caring approach with a genuine desire to support children with complex needs

* Ability to follow routines and strategies designed to promote learning and emotional regulation

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* Flexible, resilient and open to learning

* Willingness to work full time, 8:30am – 5:00pm
