Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT) are seeking a Fife Climate Forest Manager – Connectivity Lead to join our dynamic and effective Conservation and Engagement team.


Location:

The Pitcairn Centre, Moidart Drive, Glenrothes, KY7 6ET


Salary:

£32,437.03 to £40,358.57


Hours:

Full-time, 36 hours per week


Contract Type:

Fixed term contract until March 2027

About the role:

As Fife Climate Forest Manager, you will support the drive, development, and strategic direction for the Fife Climate Forest (FCF), as a delivery mechanism for Fife’s Forestry and Woodland Strategy. You will champion and promote FCF across the region to deliver improved quantity, quality, and connectedness of tree and woodland cover. Working with other FCF partners, funders, businesses, private landowners, and local communities, you will help build a sustainable funding and planting profile for the FCF. Your role will include leading the creation of woodland connectivity corridors, working with public and private landowners across Fife to benefit people, biodiversity, and maximize carbon sequestration. This role is funded by Scottish Forestry and Fife Council through Nature Restoration Funding.


About you:

We are looking for a strong communicator with excellent initiative, negotiation, persuasion, and problem-solving skills to join our team. You will bring the following skills and experience:

* SCQF9 or equivalent education, preferably in a relevant subject area
* Highly developed interpersonal skills necessary to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues in public and private sectors, business, and industry
* A well-developed understanding of major challenges and opportunities linked to climate, biodiversity, forestry, and land use
* Experience and evidence of successful delivery of partnership projects
* Excellent project management skills and experience managing large projects, preferably in land management, environmental research, or forestry
* Experience in developing and implementing funding plans to support project delivery
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
* Ability to work towards and deliver outputs within defined timescales
* Excellent initiative, negotiation, persuasion, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement solutions
* Ability to work autonomously and organize workload effectively
* Teamwork, negotiation, and leadership skills
* Data analysis and report writing skills
* IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and online conferencing platforms
* Experience presenting information engagingly to stakeholders
* Knowledge of GIS mapping software
* Knowledge of forestry grant schemes and the benefits of integrating trees
