SEND Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School - Chelmsford
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND teaching assistant to join our thriving three form entry mainstream primary school in Chelmsford. Our school in Chelmsford is looking for a compassionate and proactive SEND teaching assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them succeed both academically and socially. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their career within education and training while making a genuine difference to children's lives.
The Role
As a SEND teaching assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs within a mainstream classroom setting. Support may be delivered on a one-to-one basis or through small group interventions, depending on the needs of the pupils.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils with SEND to access learning and participate fully in classroom activities
Delivering targeted interventions to individuals and small groups
Working closely with class teachers to adapt learning materials and activities
Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
Supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development
Assisting with the implementation of individual support plans and learning targets
Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Promoting high standards of education and training throughout the school
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting children with additional needs in a school environment
Is patient, adaptable, and caring
Can build strong relationships with pupils and staff
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
Is committed to helping all children reach their potential
Has a genuine passion for education and training
Hours and Pay
Full-time position, 5 days per week
Working hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Daily rate: £95-£100 per day, dependent on experience
