The Opportunity
To support our continued ambitious growth in Energy, we have a new opportunity for a Senior Energy Consultant to join our team. We are based across our North West and Yorkshire region with offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield. The energy team has been established for over 20 years with focal points across the locations, and is well integrated into the wider national and international Arup world.
Our recent projects include regional decarbonisation visions for local authorities and GDNOs, solar photovoltaics, electricity storage, low temperature heat networks, low carbon heat generation, hydrogen for transport, biomass CHP projects, energy recovery facilities and standby gas generation for data centres, energy market reserves, university/healthcare campuses along with City Councils and energy service companies.
Is this role right for you?
You will lead and support project teams while guiding senior leaders in developing strategies, solutions and integrated project schemes for both public and private sector clients. In this role you will also consult on net zero solutions and decarbonisation developments under various energy sectors & domains. In particular, low carbon hydrogen, CCUS, Wind, Solar, New Fuels & Tidal as well as energy distribution, district heating/cooling, renewable electricity generation (solar photovoltaic, wind and biomass), low carbon heat generation in the North West and Yorkshire geography as well as the wider UK, India, Middle East and Africa (UKIMEA) region. You will work on sustainability policy development and analysis, carbon management, renewables and climate services with regional stakeholders.
Another interesting aspect of this role is that you will have the opportunity to continue to our business growth targets in the Hydrogen, CCUS and New fuels arena across NWY and UKIMEA, contributing to the development of integrated projects with wider portfolio teams, project manage & prepare bids for client opportunities & funding rounds, specifically in the areas of decarbonisation. Requirements:
1. BSc in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, Energy or similar.
2. Candidates with energy modelling, and related financial analysis techniques along with cross-disciplinary knowledge in the energy sector will be an advantage.
3. An ability to lead technical consulting projects including energy infrastructure feasibility studies and portfolio or area energy strategies, as well as advising public and private sector clients on options, risks, and appropriate actions in their pursuit of net zero carbon.
4. Experience of working in multidisciplinary technical design teams, applying technical standards and project management processes.
5. Be able to undertake strong project and technical analysis, reporting and presentation.
