Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Term Time Only) Location: Southampton, Hampshire Salary: £13.75 per hour Job Type: Term Time Only (38 weeks per year) | Full-time or Part-time Agency: Teaching Personnel Job Summary We are looking for caring, committed, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools across Southampton. This is a term-time only role, perfect for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You’ll be working in specialist SEN schools that support children with a variety of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, learning disabilities, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN Assist with classroom learning activities and adapt resources as needed Support pupils with personal care (where applicable) Help manage classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies Encourage students' confidence, independence, and communication Work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver individual learning plans What We’re Looking For Previous experience working with children or young people (education or care setting preferred) A calm, patient and nurturing approach A genuine interest in working with children with additional needs Strong communication and teamwork skills SEN training or qualifications are a bonus, but not required What We Offer Competitive pay – £13.75 per hour Term-time only – enjoy all school holidays off Supportive school teams and inclusive working environments Full and part-time opportunities available Ongoing training and professional development All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
