Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Substantive Consultant in Histopathology. This is a replacement 10 PA post. The successful applicant would join a team of 32 consultants in an oligo-specialist setting. Colleagues are encouraged to participate in 2-3 subspecialties and join the respective teams. Applications from those with paediatric/perinatal pathology experience or willingness to undertake speciality training are welcomed, as are applicants with skin and GI specialisation; other subspecialty interests can be accommodated. Responsibilities
Main duties of the job: The Histopathology team works in a modern building with up-to-date IT equipment, and consultants have their own or shared offices. Workload is controlled by an exit allocation system based on Royal College of Pathologists points to protect SPA time and cover job-planned activities outside routine reporting. Our laboratory is UKAS accredited to ISO15189:2022 standards. Private practice and work for HM Coroners are optional. A number of consultants work part-time, and flexible working is actively encouraged, including a new digital pathology solution. We train and employ advanced practitioners in dissection in Breast and Urology, and reporting in GI and Skin pathology. As a university teaching hospital, we offer opportunities to train the next generation of pathologists and to participate in undergraduate teaching.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration with a license to practice on Specialist registration or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
* For UK-trained applicants, a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award by interview date.
* Non-UK trained applicants must show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
* FRCPath or equivalent.

* Paediatric/perinatal pathology qualification.

* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and support staff; capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team; enthusiasm for service development and teaching.

* UK/NHS training experience with equivalent assessment as needed; nationals from the European or other countries must show equivalence to the 5 years of training required for the specialty.
