About the role
This role leads a team of employee relations advisors to deliver a first-class service to our leaders. The role is based in Nottingham Support Office.
Key responsibilities
The Employee Relations team, who are part of our People Function, provide expert ER advice and support and empower business leaders to promote a positive culture, by delivering a fair and consistent application of organisational policies and procedures. Reporting into Head of ER, you will:
* Act as an escalation point for the ER Advisors and deliver targeted upskilling to the ER advisors as required.
* Provide line management support, coaching and development to the PeoplePoint Advisors and completing all employee life cycle activity.
* Ensuring the service is continuously meeting the business's changing needs, ensure future strategy improvements are simple, and delivered at pace.
* Develop and grow effective relationships within the business to promote good employee relations across the organisation.
* Accountable for the management of NAVEX and coordination with The Boots Group and other stakeholders as needed.
* Accountable for the development and management of a technology plan, looking at future opportunities to improve MI and the service overall.
* Develop & deliver reports of ER activity across stores, non-stores and opticians and support ERP conversations with business leaders where additional information/MI is required
* Enable the organisation to move towards the ER vision of capable, confident and empowered leaders by ensuring the PeoplePoint service operates within agreed KPIs/SLAs and seeking opportunities for service improvements wherever possible
* Manage and coordinate the relationship with our Trade Union Partners
What you'll need to have
* Significant experience of case management, especially complex cases involving the employment tribunal and conciliation processes
* Ability to leverage technology, analyse data, work with multiple systems and develop reports.
* The ability to plan and operate a team rota ensuring customer needs are met with peaks and troughs managed appropriately.
* Expert knowledge and application of employment law with broad experience of ER cases advice and management.
* Understanding of Trade Union legislation and strong experience of working with Trade Unions.
* Ability to work collaboratively across the wider group of businesses & the ability to communicate with and relate to people at all levels.
* Ability to demonstrate presence and credibility within the organisation through excellent communication and influencing skills both verbal and written.
* Sensitive people skills; high level of emotional intelligence and wide understanding of people issues.
* Able to prioritise and plan with the ability to make sound judgments about issues that may have an adverse effect on the business from an ER perspective.
* Strong project management and IT skills
* Ability to lead through their team and to provide performance and operational leadership
It would be great if you also have
* Leadership experience
* CIPD Qualified Level 7 or equivalent experience
* Experience of working with Trade Unions
* Experience of working in / managing a customer advice service
