Job Overview
At National Highways, we have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Operations Directorate in Yorkshire North East. The role involves supporting the management and delivery of a portfolio of projects within the Region and overseeing the performance of project teams, multiple external contractors, and consultants. You will ensure adherence to governance, quality assurance, health and safety, and technical standards across the supply chain. This role will be based in either our Wakefield or Darlington office.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of complex projects while managing standard allocated projects across the lifecycle, from design to introduction into service.
* Report on and review delivery performance, develop solutions, and prepare project business cases.
* Develop, support, and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Project Managers, key stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and National Highways teams.
* Comply with the National Highways Operations Quality Management System (QMS) to deliver projects within agreed parameters for quality, cost, and time.
* Assist in programme management, reporting, and risk management against budgets, ensuring effective financial and contractual practices.
* Ensure the health and safety needs of all parties involved in projects are fully considered and accounted for throughout planning and delivery.
* Review project plans and detailed stage plans in conjunction with delivery partners.
* Manage relationships with multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Recognised qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or significant experience in the delivery of civil engineering projects.
* Understanding of project management practices and controls.
* Understanding of contract management under NEC contracts.
* Experience in managing relationships with multiple stakeholders.
