Your new role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take a leadingmercial role across a diverse portfolio of construction projects ranging from £250k–£6m. You will provide fullmercial oversight, cost planning, and contract administration across refurbishment, new-build and maintenance schemes within sectors including domestic,mercial, industrial, education, healthcare and MOD.
This role involves cost planning, advising on affordability, value engineering, providingmercial input into bids, and preparing regular financial and cost reports. You will play a key part in maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered efficiently,pliantly, and profitably.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally with exposure to NEC and JCT forms of contract. You’ll bring strongmercial acumen, excellent Excel capability, and a thorough understanding of construction methods, building techniques, and themercial implications of different materials and approaches. Experience with Evaluate software is advantageous but not essential. A proactive attitude, ability to work independently, strongmunication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously will be key to your success. A trade background is highly beneficial.
A clear DBS check is essential to allow MOD clearance.
Summary of key responsibilities:
1. Chartered status (MRICS) or working towards it.
2. Preparing cost plans, budget estimates and evaluating project affordability.
3. Providingmercial advice, value engineering options, and construction cost-saving rmendations.
4. Contributing to bid responses, pre-qualification submissions andmercial narratives.
5. Administering NEC and JCT contracts, including issuing notices and ensuring contractualpliance.
6. Preparing CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) and maintaining accurate financial reporting.
7. Procurement of subcontractors, preparing tender packages, and evaluating returns.
8. Managing variations, pricing changes, and resolving cost differences.
9. Working closely with clients, architects, engineers, and internalmercial teams.
10. Monitoring construction progress and supporting project programming.
11. Navigating and applying current building regulations and codes.
12. Attending client meetings, site visits and managingmercial documentation.
13. Staying updated on safety standards, construction innovations and best practice
