Altera Infrastructure are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic team. This role places you at the heart of a cutting‑edge project, starting with the yard phase in the Dubai Drydocks and transitioning to offshore operation.
On offer is the chance to join a rapidly growing team as part of our safe manning crew working on an equal time (4:4) rotation before moving to a 2:3 rotation for Offshore Operations at the end of project execution.
As part of the crew, you will be integral to the success of our project, contributing to preservation and maintenance activities, as well as supporting various yard work scopes. Our modern FPSO, the Petrojarl Knarr, will be deployed to the Rosebank oil and gas field to produce and store hydrocarbons. The Rosebank development has been optimised to reduce carbon emissions and the FPSO will be prepared for future electrification. The vessel is currently undergoing life extension work, modifications for field specifics and enhanced energy efficiency.
We are looking for our next Mechanical Technician.
The Mechanical Technician shall assist the Lead Mechanical Engineer in their functions and undertake operational maintenance / repair of the installation.
They shall ensure that the day‑to‑day activities of the team are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the company HSEQ policies.
Ensure that all activities are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and relevant management systems.
Perform duties as assigned by line manager.
* Carry out planned preventative and remedial maintenance as described in the maintenance management system work instructions (CMMS).
* Apply technical knowledge to determine equipment failures and identify appropriate repair solutions for equipment.
* Making and breaking flanges as per procedure.
* Operation and maintenance of utility systems as required.
* Ensure timely completion of safety critical work, Priority 1 Criticality 1 (P1C1).
* Supporting vendor lead activities for servicing and repair scopes.
* Recertification of PSV’s.
* Actively participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks.
* Perform the role of work leader and isolation authority where required.
* Contribute to continuous updates of control documentation.
* Maintain detailed and accurate reporting within the Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
* Carry out inspections of temporary equipment.
* General cleaning / upkeep of mechanical workshop & machinery space compartments.
* You will be part of the Emergency Response Team and will be expected to carry out duties in accordance with the asset Emergency Response Plan.

Qualifications:
* Minimum HNC or SVQ Level 3 relevant to core trade.
* Compliance with company training matrix for this position.
Skills and Experience:
* Experience of working in a mechanical department on an offshore installation (FPSO preferred).
* Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner.
* Able to read, interpret and apply information from drawings, reports and manuals.
* Demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of safe system of work (ePTW) and participating in assessing the risk management
* Working knowledge of CMMS systems.
