Job Summary
Responsible for selecting, purchasing, and delivering merchandise that aligns with our philosophy of quality, price, fashion, and brand. Performs analysis to develop effective merchandise strategies and assortments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Market
* Understand and apply negotiating skills.
* Evaluate fashion, quality, price, and brand to determine value during the edit/selection process.
* Determine quantities to purchase based on OTB guidelines, supporting store events, features, and profiles.
* Identify and execute incentive purchases using product and technical knowledge.
* Stay informed about market conditions related to price, resources, and fashion trends; react accordingly to impact sales and gross margin.
* Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors.
* Visit stores and competitors to analyze merchandise mix, pricing, and timeliness.
* Seek opportunistic purchases in the market.
Business Analysis
* Conduct ongoing analyses to inform merchandise strategies and assortments using available systems.
* Review orders for competitive value and feature opportunities.
* Identify needs and opportunities to develop weekly market strategies.
* Prepare analysis, samples, and information for strategy meetings.
Administration and Problem Resolution
* Manage purchase orders, follow-up, and delivery updates.
* Handle multiple tasks, balancing departmental priorities including vendor communications.
* Oversee incentive purchases through all stages of sample approval, ensuring quality standards.
* Manage Merchandise Assistants.
* Collaborate with merchandising and support teams to resolve problems.

* Create a work environment supporting TJX values and policies of Open Door and Diversity.
* Treat colleagues with dignity and respect, supporting their development within Merchandising, Planning, and across the business.
* Encourage teamwork towards common goals.
* Identify opportunities to develop Planning and Allocation staff through store visits, trend discussions, and vendor negotiations.
