Street Lighting Asset and Energy Officer
Contract: Cheshire East Highways

This role is responsible for managing and optimising street lighting energy consumption and asset performance, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements while driving cost efficiency and supporting the organisation’s sustainability goals.
You will monitor energy usage, maintain accurate asset records, and coordinate maintenance and improvement programmes that enhance public safety and environmental performance.
The Role
•Energy Management: Monitor and analyse street lighting energy use to identify savings and efficiency opportunities, ensure accurate billing, and support carbon reduction in line with sustainability targets.
•Asset Management: Maintain and update the street lighting asset database, coordinating inspections and audits to ensure accuracy, functionality, and compliance.
•Compliance and Standards: Ensure all assets meet statutory requirements and codes of practice, preparing reports for audits and liaising with the highways team on energy and compliance matters.
•Project Support: Contribute to improvement projects such as LED upgrades and smart technology initiatives, providing technical advice to colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
•Stakeholder Engagement: Respond to public and internal enquiries, collaborate with highways teams and external partners, and undertake other duties as required to support service delivery.
About You
•Knowledge of street lighting systems, energy management principles, and asset management practices.
•Have an understanding of MPAN’s, UMSO’s, DNO and IDNO energy compliance.
•No specific qualifications however Street Lighting Asset Management and Energy Management experience is essential.
•Knowledge of Different Lighting Management Systems e.g Confirm, Mayrise, Central Management Systems
•Knowledge of UMSUG and Elexon
