Overview
The College requires Exam Invigilators to oversee and supervise students during the forthcoming November 2025 examination period. There will also be opportunities for invigilation in January 2026 and Summer 2026 examination periods. Invigilators may also be required at other times during the year.
Responsibilities
Invigilating involves supervising examinations according to the examination boards’ regulations, distributing question and answer papers, ensuring that the students enter and leave exam rooms calmly, and dealing with student queries. Venues include sports halls or equivalent examination rooms.
* Follow closely and enforce exam procedures and regulations.
* Assist in organising students and their entry into examination rooms.
* Set up exam rooms by laying out stationery, equipment and exam papers according to procedures.
* Direct candidates to seats and advise on possessions permitted in examination rooms.
* Ensure candidates do not talk inside examination rooms.
* Verify candidate identification.
* In accordance with the Instructions for Conducting Examinations (JCQ).
* Deal promptly and sensitively with candidate queries.
* Escort candidates during and after examinations as required and supervise them outside the room.
* Assist in collection of scripts and dismissal of candidates.
* Supervise candidates leaving rooms to ensure orderly conduct and prevent removal of equipment or stationery without authorisation.
* Undertake other duties to ensure the efficient running of examinations.
General Responsibilities

* Contribute to safety policies and observe Health & Safety regulations.

Person Specification
Essential
* Numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE level or equivalent).
* Understanding of the exam process.
* Ability to establish effective working relationships with professional staff.
* Effective written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
* Ability to work under pressure with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to report incidents succinctly and accurately.
* Familiarity with administrative duties and experience of working with young people.
* Reliable and punctual; willingness to work flexibly.
* Active role requiring standing and walking during exams in the exam room.
* Availability for sessions in Autumn 2025 (4–11 November 2025), Winter 2026 (6–20 January 2026), and Summer 2026 (7 May–24 June 2026).
Desirable
* Experience of testing or assessment methods.
* Proven administrative skills dealing with paperwork.
* Experience in an educational setting or previous invigilation experience.

Application Information
Salary: £14.00 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay). Hours vary with examination schedules.
Training: A compulsory 3-hour online training course.
