Helen & Douglas House is a registered children’s hospice charity based in Oxford, providing palliative, respite, end‑of‑life and bereavement care to life‑limited children and their families in Oxford and the surrounding counties. We work in partnership with parents and multi‑disciplinary professionals to ensure the individual needs of our patients are met.
Role Overview
The Outreach Nursing Team possesses a wealth of experience in specialist palliative care. We are looking for a Band 7 Children’s Outreach Specialist Nurse who will support children, their families and professionals across a range of community settings within the six counties of the catchment area.
Responsibilities
* Provide autonomous, community‑based nursing care within a variety of settings, delivering exceptional palliative care to children and their families.
* Support and advise families, other nurses, doctors, nursery nurses, Family Support Services and Volunteers, working collaboratively with external multi‑disciplinary professionals in the child’s own community.
* Deliver symptom control support and management throughout the palliative care pathway.
* Participate in team meetings, training and development activities, contributing to the improvement of our service delivery.
Requirements
* Band 7 nursing registration.
* Experience in community nursing and specialist palliative care.
* Ability to work autonomously and with a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to the ethos of Helen & Douglas House and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Benefits & Working Conditions
* Full‑time position: 37.5 hours per week.
* Two positions available.
* Location: Community based.
* Salary: HDH Band 7 £51,370 – £58,628 per annum.
* Interview date: 8th January 2026.
