The Community Occupational Therapy team forms part of East Lothian Rehabilitation Service (ELRS), an integrated service within East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership. The ELRS service comprises Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Community Care Workers and Assistant Practitioners across 3 cluster bases.
Community Occupational Therapists play a crucial role in assessment of and planning intervention to support people in reaching their goals. This may include rehabilitation, treatment planning, assessment for small equipment and minor adaptations and when required longer term intervention assessing for major adaptations and equipment. The service has a major adaptations team which supports design and progression of major adaptations to owner occupied properties. The service provides a mix of short term crisis work and longer term complex cases.
We are seeking a wte Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team of Occupational Therapists and community care workers team in East Lothian. The post holder will be based in East Lothian Community Hospital and will have line management responsibilities for a small group of staff and provide supervision of staff, ensuring training and PRDs are up to date and relevant to each person and with the overall business plan. The post holder will hold a small caseload and participate in the weekly 'Request for Assistance' phone line rota where all new requests for Occupational Therapy are discussed at the point of contact.
The post holder will be expected to take a lead role in the future development of the OT service and be an effective member of a forward thinking team, providing a responsive and needs led service.
The Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist will have excellent time management, experience of supervision and excellent knowledge of people with complex conditions which require Community Occupational Therapy intervention. This post is also responsible for delegated authority functions and the post holder must therefore have sound skills in underpinning knowledge around criteria and housing adaptations.
We require an experienced individual with experience of community work, adaptations, rehabilitation, housing assessments and moving and handling knowledge to be able to fulfil the role fully. Training will also be provided where this is required.
The Senior Practitioner will also be responsible for management tasks as delegated by the Team Manager or other member of the collaborative management team as part of East Lothian Rehabilitation Service
