This role is critical in ensuring GSK can report tax balances in a timely and accurate manner, contributing to the overall Group Financial Statements.
It involves significant interaction with the Group Head of Tax, senior stakeholders, and finance colleagues worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
* Group Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax balances under IFRS for the annual report, including consolidated tax balances and US GAAP translation for ViiV, our joint venture, for minority interest reporting.
* Entity Reporting: Oversee and coordinate the numerous legal entities to ensure smooth year-end tax balance delivery, maintain tools, and drive process improvements and automation using technology like Alteryx and Power BI.
* Forecasting ETR and Cash Tax: Develop insights into business changes, product mix, and tax landscape to project the group's effective tax rate and cash taxes.
* Tax Risk Reporting: Manage the tax risk reporting process, engaging with senior internal stakeholders and external service providers.
* Country by Country Reporting (CbCR): Prepare the public CbCR report and ensure accuracy through stakeholder engagement.
* Process Improvement and Change Management: Lead enhancements in tax reporting processes, leverage ERP systems, and coordinate with outsourcing providers.
* Mentoring: Support junior staff development and foster a thriving team environment.
* Ad-hoc Projects: Participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
* Strong accounting and tax background (CIMA/ACA or equivalent, partly or fully qualified)
* Basic understanding of international tax principles
* Proficiency with accounting platforms
* Ability to analyze large data sets and present findings effectively; experience with Alteryx and Power BI is beneficial but not essential
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for engaging with senior stakeholders and global finance teams
* Ability to challenge existing processes and implement improvements
