Overview
IPS Employment Specialist – Milton Keynes. The post will be based in the community Mental Health Hub which operates across 3 sites in the area. We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, organised, with excellent time management and experience of supporting people to access paid employment. We are interested in those with transferable skills and the right qualities and aptitudes, including a belief that anyone with a mental health condition can work, initiative, teamwork, and the ability to work in line with an evidenced based model and Key Performance Indicators.
You will promote employment and raise expectations that people accessing the mental health service can find and keep paid employment. You will have individual and team targets and will receive professional supervision and support from an Employment Team Leader, a clinical supervisor and local peers. You will spend a significant amount of time in the community providing intervention to clients, negotiating job opportunities via the hidden labour market, and networking with local agencies.
Responsibilities
* Using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, support and motivate individuals with mental health conditions to access and sustain paid employment.
* Support clients through vocational profiling, CV production, interview techniques, assessing the financial implications of work, negotiating reasonable adjustments and managing health at work.
* Source job opportunities for clients through regular contact with local employers within the community.
* Promote employment and raise expectations around the ability of service users to access paid employment, breaking down barriers for them.

Who Are We Looking For?
Initially, you will need either a degree-level education or relevant work experience in health and social care or employment sectors. You should have strong and persuasive communication skills, excellent time management and exceptional organisational abilities. You should also be able to initiate and develop relationships with a variety of individuals and engage employers using methods such as telephone or face-to-face in the community.
Experience with people with mental health support needs (or similar groups) or experience in employment support services (or equivalent) is helpful but not essential. This can include one-to-one motivation and support, or engaging with a range of stakeholders. We welcome applicants with experience in persuasive communication, marketing, recruitment or sales.
Having a driving licence and access to a car is essential for this role.

Salary can only be negotiated where there is a minimum of 2 years experience within employment support.
