We’re looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator to take ownership of our SQL Server environment - ensuring high availability, strong performance, and robust security. In this role, you’ll work closely with our Development and Application teams to manage database changes, deployments, and production releases. You’ll also contribute to wider infrastructure support, including servers, storage, backups, and related systems.
What you will be doing...
The roles main duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to;
* Administer, configure, and maintain all SQL Server environments (development, test, and production).
* Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
* Implement and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions such as Always On, clustering, log shipping, and replication.
* Collaborate closely with the Development and Application Support teams to manage database deployments and code releases into SQL environments.
* Review and validate SQL scripts, stored procedures, schema changes, and data migrations prior to release.
* Where required, provide operational support for Windows Server infrastructure, virtualisation (VMware), and storage systems.
* Assist with patching, monitoring, and proactive maintenance of critical systems.
About you...
* Expert experience as a SQL DBA in complex enterprise environments.
* Expert knowledge of SQL Server 2012–2022, T-SQL scripting, and database internals.
* Proven experience in HA/DR design and implementation (Always On, clustering, etc.).
* Strong understanding of Windows Server environments and storage technologies.
* Experience managing database releases, deployments and DevOps pipelines.
* Familiarity and use of virtualisation platforms (VMware).
* Knowledge of PowerShell for automation and administration.
* Excellent troubleshooting and performance analysis skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure SQL or hybrid database solutions).
* Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Graylog & PRTG
* Strong problem-solving mindset and analytical approach.
* Excellent communication and documentation skills.
