SARC Patient Crisis Worker - 0 hrs Sussex
Join Mountain Healthcare as a SARC Patient Crisis Worker (SPCW) in Sussex. Reporting to the SARC Manager, the SPCW will coordinate activities within the Sexual Assault Referral Centre, providing support and advocacy to patients and their families.
Responsibilities
* Provide telephone information and support to patients and families, ensuring a compassionate and patient‑centered approach.
* Coordinate administration and visits for adults, children, and families, supporting patients through examination and use of colposcope.
* Deliver advocacy support during the forensic process and oversee day‑to‑day service delivery.
* Train and assess new zero‑hour SPCWs, including forensic cleaning procedures.
* Maintain and book forensic consumables, ensuring acceptance testing and inventory management.
* Audit anti‑contamination processes and monitor DNA environmental conditions.
* Assist with patient recovery programs, including follow‑up calls, check‑ins, and onward referrals such as housing support.
* Support implementation of ISO 15189 and the FSR Code of Practice; contribute to UKAS accreditation.
Qualifications & Skills
* Good IT skills.
* Experience in a supportive or customer‑focused environment.
* Strong understanding of confidentiality.
* Experience completing administrative duties.
* Advanced DBS and Level 2 Police vetting required.
* UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for occasional travel between SARCs.
* Eligible female applicant (Sex Discrimination Act Section 7(2)b and 7(2)e).
Compensation & Hours
* Retainer rates £35.21‑£49.66 per day/shift (dependent on day and shift).
* Attendance payment £47.55.
* Hourly rate £15.85 for called‑out cases over 3 hours.
* Part‑time bank position.
* Shift pattern: out‑of‑hours weekday evenings and weekends, days and nights.
* Typical shift hours: 8 pm‑8 am Monday‑Friday, 8 pm‑9 am Friday‑Saturday, 9 am‑5 pm Saturday‑Sunday, 5 pm‑1 am Saturday‑Sunday, 1 am‑9 am Saturday‑Sunday, 1 am‑9 am Sunday‑Monday.
Location
Sussex SARC, with additional locations through the South East.
