We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join the team at HMP Leeds, a busy category B prison in Leeds Centre. This is a crucial role within the mental health team, making a real difference to patients and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience within mental health. We are looking for someone with a real passion for helping others – this role allows you to make a real difference to patients! This role focuses on patient wellbeing and would be a great next step for a healthcare assistant or existing support worker.

Hours
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working Monday‑Friday, 08:00‑16:00.
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary of up to £29,723 per annum – depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As our new Mental Health Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties include:
* Run psychosocial groups and 1‑1s, working with male patients referred to the mental health service
* Work closely with the wider mental health team of 19
* Carry out clinical duties – venepuncture, screenings, ECGs, etc.
* Deliver low level interventions
* Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
* Deliver personalised, non‑judgemental care, based on patient feedback
* Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
* Assist with release and discharge when needed

What we’ll look for in you
We are looking for caring, compassionate but also driven professionals who can help us drive our vision for a fair and inclusive healthcare access to all.
Our new Mental Health Support Worker will:
* Ideally have experience within mental health
* Clinical experience such as venepuncture, ECGs, etc. would be highly desirable!
* Experience of working within a multi‑disciplinary team
* Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent – this isn't essential!
* Experience within a forensic or prison environment would be a bonus
* Have a non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
