We supervise the island's financial services industry for compliance with both conduct and prudential requirements, and under the anti-money laundering (AML), countering financing of terrorism (CFT), and countering proliferation financing (CPF) framework.
The JFSC is one of the few regulators globally to benefit from the Regulator and the entity Registrar operating under a single financial services commission.
Division: Policy, Innovation, and Marketing and Communication
These teams play a critical role in enhancing Jersey’s reputation as a financial centre and developing its financial services sector. The Policy team is responsible for maintaining Jersey’s rulebooks so that we remain competitive as a jurisdiction whilst meeting international standards. The Communications team is responsible for ensuring we explain our approach to stakeholders so they have confidence in Jersey. The Innovation Hub is a facilitator of technology adoption both inside and outside of the JFSC, supporting growth of Fintech, Regtech and Suptech. It is equally responsible for promoting more resilience in financial services businesses through the adoption of technology and leads the JFSC’s work to ensure Jersey develops its capability to support digital asset businesses.
Team: Innovation Hub
The Innovation Hub advises senior leaders within the JFSC on how Jersey’s financial services firms can innovate, taking advantage of business opportunities in line with our risk appetite. It also takes a lead in influencing how Jersey can evolve its digital assets businesses in line with international standards. The Hub works with senior stakeholders across Government, Industry and those agencies developing Jersey’s innovation and digital capabilities, as well as taking a lead educating the JFSC’s senior leaders, policy and supervisory teams to promote FinTech on our island.
This role will have a large impact on the JFSC and the achievement of its objectives to harness technology and support the digitalization of financial services. The successful candidate will join the JFSC at a key stage in its development, as it seeks to play an enhanced role in the continued success of Jersey as a highly regarded International Financial Centre and will deliver the following outcomes:
· A clear strategy and vision for the JFSC as a technology positive regulator.
· A motivated and high performing Innovation Hub team who are delivering consistently on the objectives of the Hub - advocating for technological change, facilitating technological adoption (internally and externally), and engaging with technology innovators in all sectors of the financial services industry.
· Facilitating and monitoring the adoption of new technology as an integral element of RegTech, Suptech and Fintech - liaising between JFSC, Government, other agencies and industry.
· Successful internal and external stakeholder management to overcome barriers to adoption associated with awareness or lack of clarity regarding policy or regulatory expectations or a lack of understanding related to technology or digital solutions.
· Active promotion of the JFSC’s engagement between regulation and technological innovation.
