About the role:
To provide engineering design solutions and through life engineering support to the JFD product range. Workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications through to supporting an existing client’s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.
Principle Accountabilities:
* Provide engineering design input to new systems and products and provide support to the existing product range by assessing technical queries.
* Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, supply chain and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances.
* Creation of part numbers and bill of materials and sourcing suitable components and materials when required.
* Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports and checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
* Ensuring engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget and adhere to engineering and company standards and processes (compliance to internal and external standards and regulations).
* Accountability and responsibility as the discipline technical approver of drawings and documentation generated within the JFD engineering team.
* Where applicable, responsible for promoting engagement to achieve a resilient diverse high performing team.
* Where applicable, the line management of a small team on performance, development, allocation/delegation of work and compliance to internal and external standard & regulations and develop and mentor team through the use of a competence framework and training, development plans and performance appraisals.

Qualifications and Experience:
* Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
* Electrical and Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
* Knowledge of PCB schematic capture using software such as Altium Designer.
* Knowledge of PCB layout using software such as Altium Designer or working with external design bureaus to generate layouts/gerbers.
* Proven electronics design skills.
* Experience of circuit design for embedded systems (STM32 or similar)
* Experience writing embedded software (STM IDE or similar).
* Knowledge of electronic systems and designing for EMC compliance.
* Experience of design for Functional Safety compliance and also experience of design for CE Compliance.
* Knowledge of design standards for electronics (IPC) along with being skilled in generating design calculations.
* Competent in the use of engineering design software tools / CAD packages.
* Knowledge of design standards.
* Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
* Experience working to marine, defence standards and class society rules (mainly LR and DNV).
*You will need to be able to pass security clearance for this role and also have the right to work and reside in the UK.
