Specialist – Neighbourhood Housing (Income) – Guildford Borough Council

A self‑motivated, enthusiastic professional with excellent communication and customer‑service skills will join the Neighbourhood Housing, Income Collection Team as a Front‑Line Housing Income Specialist. The role is at the core of the Council’s comprehensive housing and income service and involves acting as the first point of contact for residents in a defined geographic area within Guildford.


Pay Range

£33,699 – £42,272 per annum (37 hours per week) plus essential car‑user allowance.


Responsibilities

* Collect rent income and associated charges within a defined area.
* Act as the first point of customer contact, managing sensitive issues in a pressurised environment.
* Balance enforcement with support, maintaining effective communication with tenants.
* Negotiate and resolve disputes, demonstrating assertiveness in difficult situations.
* Provide debt and welfare‑benefit advice where applicable (desired experience).


Qualifications

* Self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and a good team player.
* Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
* Strong problem‑solving and negotiation abilities.
* Experience giving debt advice and/or welfare‑benefit advice is desirable.
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
