An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Exotics Veterinary Surgeon to join our amazing team here at Ashleigh Vets, Chorlton!
You will join our existing team of 4 exotic veterinary surgeons. We work in tandem with the dog and cat team and you will also have to see a small percentage of dogs and cats’ cases but will spend most of your time in the exotics department which has self-contained hospitalisation and operating areas.
This is a unique opportunity to work with an experienced team of Exotic Veterinary Surgeons, including Aidan Raftery, who has written chapters in many text books and BSAVA manuals and regularly presents talks at conferences and CPD events.
Salary and Rota
4 days a week, 1 weekend (mornings only) in 5 – 6. Shift patterns on weekdays are a mix of 9 - 4 and 9 - 7. There is a separate out of hours team, but you will be 2nd on call one day a week and one weekend in 5 primarily for advice for the out of hours vet or nurse.
The hours are flexible but most of the team do a 4-day week.

We are very well equipped with digital xrays, video endoscopy, ultrasound etc. We see a wide range of species, both first opinion and referral, from geckos to capybaras so every day is different. You will be working alongside colleagues from varied backgrounds with many years of exotic animal medicine experience. We also have a great group of nurses with exotic animal nursing qualifications who are an essential part of the team
We are 2.5 miles from the vibrant centre of Manchester and 1 mile from Old Trafford. The peak district can be reached in 30 minutes and the lake district in 1 hour. We also have excellent transport links, being at the axis of the motorways and Manchester airport being a 10-minute drive.

Ashleigh Veterinary Centre currently has twelve veterinary surgeons, eleven registered veterinary nurses, three trainee veterinary nurses, seven auxiliary veterinary nurses, eight receptionists and a practice manager. You would be the 5th veterinary surgeon in the exotic team.
