Overview
We are looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to join us who is self-motivated and has broad experience in all the challenges that working in the property industry can bring on a full-time, permanent basis.

About you
You will have strong contract administration abilities and be able to run projects from an in‑house team or with outside consultants/contractors. You will carry out condition surveys, prepare reports, briefs, design schemes, prepare specifications and provide AutoCAD drawings. Working knowledge and understanding of the application of the Equality Act Regulations, Health and Safety law, CDM, BSA and Building Regulations in the construction industry is essential.
Excellent communication skills are vital, with the ability to build a rapport with colleagues, tenants and other professionals. You will have an HND/degree in construction or equivalent experience and be able to use AutoCAD.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Property Management, you will be expected to deliver the council's corporate works programme with the support of the wider team and have experience in a similar role, including managing budgets and ensuring the timely completion of projects. Knowledge of running service contracts and associated legislation is an advantage.
As well as time working either in the office or from home, you will be out in the community meeting council occupiers, commercial tenants and inspecting our properties.
About the team
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join a team providing professional building advice, contract administration, building services, repairs, maintenance, condition surveys and business support across the council.
Key responsibilities
* Investigations and surveys including measured condition surveys, investigation of building and building services defects and the identification and prioritisation of maintenance needs.
* Carry out professional building and project management functions in the delivery of construction projects.
* Provide expertise in delivering projects to the highest quality standards, on time and within budget.
* Provide design and specification information suitable for tender to contractors which will be incorporated as part of the planned works programme or within various capital schemes. Manage the project budgets and provide regular reporting to the Head of Strategic Property Management.
